The Season of Joy and Financial Mindfulness 🎁

a pine tree tribal

This holiday season is a blend of joy, love, family, friends, and celebration, but it can also be a time of financial stress and impulsive spending. The demands of hosting, gift-giving, and fulfilling social expectations often lead to overspending.

Lets explore strategies to mindfully managing holiday financials stresses, allowing us to savor the season without the burden of debt.

1. Gift Giving: A Mindful Shift

Rethink the way we approach holiday gifting:

  • Sustainable Gifting: Avoid unnecessary debt. True affection doesn’t equate to expensive gifts.
  • The Middle Ground: Opt for gifts that are meaningful yet within your budget.
    • I call it Advice Gifting: I remember speaking to an employe at the Good Will near my house, earlier this year we had a brief conversation about her wearing a girdle and that her organs were hurting. I believe in empowering and helping each other through our struggles. I’m actually buying her a belt for Christmas and wrapping it in a wine cute wine glass I mention in this blog.

2. Gift Giving Ideas:

  • Experience Gifts: Offer experiences like museum visits, beach outings, or attending a play, hiking, bike riding, roller blading, pottery class.
  • Homemade Gifts: Use your skills to create personalized gifts. For example, bake goods, make flavored butters, or craft unique items.
  • Eco-Friendly Wrapping: Instead of traditional wrapping paper, use old clothes or scarves to wrap gifts. This not only recycles materials but also adds a personal and creative touch to your presents.
  • Mindful Dollar Gifts: Fill thrift store Wine glass jars with practical items: sanitizers, keychains, or hair accessories, nail polish, ets and wrap in beautiful scarfs.
🎁 Post your Filled Glass Wines below!! Or Tag me IG: Girlgoneverde
  • Second-Hand Treasures: Look for unique gifts at estate sales.
  • Gifting to a Family: Think Board Games, Card Games.
    • 🎁 I bought a Boogle Game at a garage sale and It game an idea of what to buy a family
  • Contact your Local School Elementary, Middle and Highschool: Make a donation to a local school in your neighborhood. It will bless a family in need this Holiday.
  • Gift a Chef: Did you know you can hire a chef, just like an Uber. Don’t believe me? You can hire someone to come to your house and cook. This Christmas you can Gift someone a Personal Chef. Maybe you know someone that just had a baby, or someone that just started a business, you get my thrift!! CookinGenie
  • Gift an APP: Just like the Belt story I mentioned earlier. I want to learn a new language in 2024. Gifting a language app would be ideal if you know someone that wants to learn a language. You can pay for the frist 3 Months to get them started.

3. Hosting Costs

Plan your holiday party within a set budget. Use simple, cost-effective decorations and let guests contribute to the feast.

Share a list or Album on your phone with those contributing to the event. Keep it simple and organize who can bring what. Some can bring food since they can cook. Others a homemade drink. I try to make everything but not everyone.

TIP: Don’t wait for the Holidays. This year I challenge you, Yes you! to announce this Holiday that you want everyone to gather every Quarter or every other Quarter.

4. Impulse and Emotional Spending

Plan your holiday party within a set budget. Use simple, cost-effective decorations and let guests contribute to the feast.

Stay vigilant against holiday marketing tactics. Set a spending budget and adhere to it.

As an accountant, I started realizing I was buying things that I already bought throughout the year. In my opinion, Holidays should be about spending time together, since we do spend more time at work than with our kids.

5. Create a Xmas Gift Fund

Ask your Human Resource Department if they can hold $20 dollars each week to use for Christmas. Thats $1,040! You will have something to fall back on.

Would love to know how this goes for you in the future.

5. Host a Secret Santa with your Family, Friends and Co-Workers!

This will save you so much money!! You’ll Thank me later! Thats three gifts you need to come up with. And if you DIY them you’ll spend a fraction of the cost in gifts.

In Closing…

Embrace a holiday season that shows love and care for your loved ones and yourself. Staying within a budget and starting the new year without debt is a wonderful gift.

Show us your eco-friendly gift-wrapping ideas and homemade gifts. I’m excited to share mine soon!

Sustainable Twist

Sustainable Twist

Innovation for Sustainability: A sustainable business model doesn’t just adapt to current sustainable practices; it innovates to find new ones. This could involve developing new materials that are more eco-friendly, devising new production processes that use less energy, or finding ways to deliver services that have a lower carbon footprint.

“Sustainable twist” refer to innovation to various contexts:

  1. Fashion: Incorporating sustainable materials or practices into clothing design.
  2. Architecture: Designing buildings with an eco-friendly spin, such as integrating green roofs, solar panels, or sustainable materials.
  3. Food: Incorporating sustainable or local ingredients into traditional recipes.
  4. Events: Planning and executing events with a focus on minimizing waste, using sustainable materials, and reducing carbon footprints.
  5. Business Models: Innovating traditional business practices to prioritize the environment and social well-being alongside profitability.

“Sustainable Twist,” is changing the traditional concept, product, or method and adjusting it in a way that is more mindful of environmental and societal impacts.
